AYODHYALIVE : Innovations and Advances in Valorisation of Functional Dairy Products

BHU : On the Occasion of National milk day, a two-day seminar titled “Innovations and advances in the valorization of functional dairy products” was successfully organized in the Department of Dairy Science and Food Technology, Institute of Agricultural sciences, Banaras Hindu University (DSFT, IAS, BHU) in collaboration with the Indian Dairy Association Eastern Uttar Pradesh Chapter (IDA).

This celebration was to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of White Revolution. Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, Convenor cum Chairman commenced the second day of the event with a warm welcome address in which he endorsed Dr. Verghese Kurien and his significant contribution in dairy sector. Dr. Amrita Poonia, Organizing secretary, briefed about the seminar. The chief guest of the session was Mr. Sukhbir Singh Mann, Chairman, Indian Dairy Association (North Zone). He propagated the use of clean milk for healthy life. Prof. Yashwant Singh, Director, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU gave the presidential address and mentioned milk as a complete food.

First and second technical sessions were chaired by Mr. Jai Aggarwal, Managing Director, Gyan Dairy and Dr. Ghanshiam Singh Rajorhia, respectively. Eminent speakers Dr. Rupinder Singh Sodhi, President IDA & Managing director GCMMF Ltd Amul, Mr. Prashant Bhatt, Chief Research & Development officer, Mother dairy Fruit & vegetable Ltd., Delhi, Mr. I.K. Narang, Secretary, IDA (North Zone) and Mr. Rajendra Kumar Saigal, Managing Director, Varanasi milk union, UP charmed the audience with their vast knowledge in the dairy sector.

The session was followed by a panel discussion on employability in Dairy Sector for professionals. Participants were cherished with distribution of prizes along with certificates. Prof, A.K. Chauhan, Head of the Department, DSFT, IAS, BHU extended the vote of thanks with his kind words. During the closing ceremony, Convenor cum Chairman of IDA Eastern U.P. Chapter, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Executive Committee of IDA, sponsors, organizing committee members and participants for making this seminar a grand success. More than 250 participants participated in the seminar. Dr. Ankita Hooda moderated the session.
